I was reading Albert's suggestion for salting the fish tank about 35 oz per 250 gals.
I haven't put any salt in my tanks for almost 1 year and now I have another 300 gal FT with some white tilapia that I want to breed.
Just double checking the amount needed for a 300 gal. tank x 2, I guess it sounds like 5 pounds will that be a safe assumption?

Why are you salting the water?  Are the fish sick?

A while ago I noticed some of the fish with lesions and some other skin disorders and I think I threw a pinch of salt and haven't checked them ever since they all seem to be doing ok, they are always hungry, once in a while a see a couple of them with some weird looking discoloration and I wonder if they are rough to each other or get beat up by the bigger ones
I just got some golden tilapia and want to make sure they all stay healthy , besides, I don't think it will hurt either the fish or the plants....Will it?

Salt is VERY bad for plants.  If you salt the water because fish are sick you need to change the water after they get better.  Salt will never leave the system unless you do a water change.

Test for NITRITES. If your fish look funny and have lesions I'd be willing to get its nitirites.

i have some amount of salt in all of my tanks.  supposedly strawberry reacts badly to salt, so i guess the amount i put in is not enough to kill the strawberry plants.

Just put about 1/2 lb of salt in the system with 2x 300 gal FTs and 4x growbeds, It should not be too bad
